FAQ

  • The crop is easy to grow organically without using chemicals and is very pest resistant.
  • It is also low risk due to the fact that the plant is easy to grow.
  • It gives high profit per hectare to farmers because they can profit from the whole plant and the seeds.
  • It can replace fish oil as the plant is very rich in Omega 3 and contains the optimal 1:3 ratio of omega 3 to 6.
  • There is a large population of people who believe it can have a relaxation effect. Therefore, it is popular for recreational use.
  • There are also a lot of people claiming that the plant helps relieve different symptoms.

CBD stands for cannabidiol – one of over 100 natural cannabinoids found in cannabis sativa (one of the Latin names for this type of cannabis). It has a variety of health benefits, is legal in most countries, non-toxic and completely non-psychoactive.

Hemp oil is simply another word used for CBD oil, as both are terms to mean cannabis extracts. But be aware that there is also a huge misunderstanding about the difference between hemp seed oil and hemp oil, with many people believing they are the same.

Hemp seed oil is derived purely from hemp seeds, and is used in food preparation but does not contain CBD or any other cannabinoids

Medical cannabis, or medical marijuana, can refer to the use of cannabis to treat disease or improve symptoms. However, there is no single agreed-upon definition. Mostly, this term is used to define plants that contain high amounts of THC, but it is becoming more complicated to define what it is, due to the fact that we have recently found a lot of cannabis plants with many other molecules.

Medical cannabis/ medical marijuana is a word used very frequently in the thousands of medical cannabis shops in the USA where they sell cannabis plants legally under state law. Most of the medical cannabis/ medical marijuana is sold for recreational purposes. Very few cannabis products on the market have been through any clinical trials. Unfortunately, the trials that have taken place are very small with inconclusive results.

Yes, it has a lot of slang names such as;

  • Marijuana
  • Pot
  • Weed
  • Grass
  • Ganja

  • Skunk

A synthase is an enzyme which catalyses the linking together of two molecules.

The endocannabinoid system is a homeostatic regulator of neuronal activity and almost every other physiological system in the body. It has a regulatory role on pain, inflammation, memory, emotion, sleep and metabolic function.

It comprises a vast network of receptors in the brain, central and peripheral nervous system and cannabis-like compounds called endocannabinoids.

It has been likened to a dimmer switch, constantly working to bring balance when there is too much or too little activity in the body.

Plant cannabinoids like CBD and THC interact with the endocannabinoid system, which researchers believe may explain some of the reported physiological effects of the cannabis plant.

Scientists also believe that when this system isn’t working correctly, diseases can occur. This is known as Endocannabinoid Deficiency and could be at the root of many conditions such as migraines, fibromyalgia, IBS and multiple sclerosis.

Recent research has demonstrated that active compounds from other plants species such as carrot (Daucus carota), kava (Piper methyscum), New Zealand liverwort (Radula marginata), ginger (Zingiber officinale) and black pepper (Piper nigrum) contain compounds which interact with the endocannabinoid system.

CBDa is the acidic precursor of CBD. That means if you took some freshly harvested hemp plants, they would contain mostly CBDa and only a little CBD. It’s through the drying and heating process that CBDa turns into CBD (Cannabidiol).

THCa is the acidic precursor of THC. That means if you took some freshly harvested cannabis plants, they would contain mostly THCa and only a little THC. It’s through the drying and heating process that THCa turns into THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol).

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the cannabinoid found most in abundance in the cannabis plant. It has a psychoactive effect, hence plant varieties that have been bred for recreational use are particularly high in THC.

That is not to say that THC doesn’t have any therapeutic use. It has been found to be effective for reducing nausea and vomiting experienced by patients during chemotherapy, can slow down the progression of glaucoma and help reduce nerve pain.

We have found out that cannabis/hemp contains over 400 molecules – and in recent research we have discovered there are a group of molecules that cannabis produces called cannabinoids, which are mostly responsible for its effects. There are over 120 cannabinoids including CBD, THC, CBG, CBC and CBN.

A famous cannabinoid is THC, which is psychoactive and responsible for the high. However, at Endoca we produce products with a high concentration of the cannabinoid CBD – which does not give the high.

All are actually cannabis plants. However, hemp or industrial hemp is a term commonly used for cannabis strains that contain very low levels of THC – to be precise below 0.2% THC. Marijuana, in general, is a word used for plants that contain high amounts of THC.

Our Ancestors did not know anything about THC (that it is psychoactive) and were just growing cannabis and calling it hemp. It’s only in modern times that the definition of hemp means low levels of THC.

On street level, when a cannabis plant is analyzed it’s found to contain 1%-22% THC. Cannabis products can even contain up to 98% THC.

Although CBD oil and hemp oil are sometimes used interchangeably, there is a difference.

  • Hemp oil is technically any oil that is derived from the hemp plant
  • CBD oil is an oil that contains the compound CBD (cannabidiol). The compound itself is extracted from the cannabis or hemp plant and used to create an oil.

Typically, CBD oils derived from hemp have low levels of THC. But, it’s worth noting that ‘CBD oil’ may also be referred to as ‘CBD hemp oil’. This is when the CBD oil has been taken from the hemp plant exclusively. When the CBD oil has been extracted from the plant and contains other plant compounds this is known as ‘whole plant’ CBD oil, or full spectrum CBD oil.

The difference between CBD and CBDa is down to their natural state. CBDa turns into CBD when heated.

  • CBD (cannabidiol) is a wonderful natural botanical compound found in the hemp plant. It is made when heat is applied to CBDa (changing its molecular structure). This is known as the decarboxylation process and can naturally occur in the growing process.
  • CBDa is the acidic precursor (or raw state) of CBD. When the hemp plant (cannabis sativa) is in its natural state, it produces CBDa first – and only after heating or ageing under the sun does the CBDa transform into CBD.

CBD and THC are both natural compounds found in the cannabis plant referred to as cannabinoids – or better yet, phytocannabinoids (meaning cannabinoids found in plants). Despite this similarity, they’re different in the following ways:

  • CBD is not psychotropic and therefore will not make you high, whereas THC is – and will create that euphoric effect
  • THC interacts with our CB1 receptor, whereas CBD’s mechanism of action focuses on our CB2 receptor
  • THC has a high-binding affinity for our CB1 receptor, meaning it fits perfectly into this receptor site. CBD has a low binding affinity for our CB2 receptors, preferring to regulate the release of our naturally produced endocannabinoids like Anandamide, which have high binding affinity for our CB2 receptors
  • CBD is abundant in hemp, while THC dominates in other types of cannabis
  • Hemp-derived CBD products are legal in most countries, whereas THC is not

CBD stands for cannabidiol while CBN stands for cannabinol. Both are natural cannabinoids that come from the cannabis plant. However, whereas CBD is more naturally abundant in the plant, CBN is less common and is converted from THC molecules. It only appears after oxidation.

There are some scientific experiments that indicate that cannabinoids work in a similar way to the endocannabinoids that the human body already produces in healthy people. The mechanisms of action are still not clarified and there are no conclusive studies that show any clear pathways.
